Dolcetto Rosato

Planted in 1991, Stag Hollow is among the first in Oregon to grow and produce wines from Dolcetto grape.

Stag Hollow makes three different bottlings from the Dolcetto grape: Dolcetto d’Yamhill, Dolcetto d’Yamhill Superiore, and Dolcetto Rosato.

The Dolcetto grape, originally hailing from the Piedmont in northern Italy, produces dark-colored medium bodied wines that show cherry flavors, with notes of leather and tea, and hints of marzipan.  Dolcetto is a wine of “daily pleasure”.

Current Vintages Available for Purchase:

2017 Dolcetto Rosato

Strawberry on the nose; flavors of strawberry, rhubarb some pepper with a dry finish.

2014 Dolcetto d’Yamhill Superiore

(Intl Wine Report review – 92 pts)

“Sourcing the best Dolcetto from the estate vineyard, this wine starts off with black tea, Asian spices and hints of milk chocolate on the nose. Silky smooth and seductive, the palate shifts to earthy tones with dark and red fruits. The touch of citrus rind rounds out this outstanding, novel wine made by the talented Mark Huff of Stag Hollow.”

2014 Dolcetto d’Yamhill

(Intl Wine Report review – 91 pts)

“Another gorgeous release from this longstanding Oregon estate. This rarely found Italian varietal opens with aromatics of red currant, red cherry, sweet tobacco and nutmeg. There are flavors of red cherry, red raspberry, cram-orange, teaberry and suggestions of white pepper. This shows impressive range and rich red fruits, while maintaining a strong mineral backbone. Overall this is a lovely example of the varietal outside of Italy.”
